The all-rounder Wessly Madhevere and fast bowler Newman Nyamhuri have been recalled to the Zimbabwe squad for India T20Is, while wk-batter Tafadzwa Tsiga earned his maiden T20I call-up.
Sikandar Raza-led 15-member squad will take on the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup champions starting on July 23.
Newman Nyamhuri is yet to make his T20I debut for Zimbabwe after returning on the back of a niggle that ruled him out of the Bangladesh series.
Tanaka Chivanga, who was named as a replacement for Nyamhuri, has been retained in the squad. Meanwhile, three players, Clive Madande, Tinotenda Maposa and Tashinga Musekiwa, have also been included in the squad.
Madhevere returns to the national setup after missing the recent T20I series against Bangladesh, while Nyamhuri is back after recovering from the niggle that ruled him out of the series.
Meanwhile, Tsiga has earned his call-up in the shortest format at the international level.
Zimbabwe recently suffered a 2-1 defeat against Bangladesh, while India lost their last two T20I series against Ireland and England. Zimbabwe registered an innings victory in the one-off Test before clinching the ODI series 2-1 in Harare.
India suffered a 2-0 defeat against Ireland and a 4-0 defeat against England. The last time both sides clashed in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 where India secured a 72-run victory.
The T20I series will begin on July 23, while the second and third matches will be played on July 25 and 26. All the games will be played at Harare Sports Club, Harare.
