Van der Dussen will be leading the South Africa Squad for the T20Is in Zimbabwe Tri-nation series including New Zealand where Gerald Coetzee and Nandre Burger will return to international cricket after 8 and 11 months respectively.
Coetzee was sidelined by a hamstring and groin injury over the home summer while Burger has been out with a lower back stress fracture. Both are currently involved in the MLC 2025 at USA.
Shukri Conrad who has become South Africa’s all-format head coach expects to field full strength squad as possible.
South Africa will be missing the services of regular captain Aiden Markram, batters Ryan Rickelton, Tristan Stubbs and David Miller, all-rounder Marco Jansen, pace spearhead Kagiso Rabada and left-arm spinner Keshav Maharaj.
Anrich Nortje and Tabraiz Shamsi who are not contracted to CSA, but remain available for selection, have also not been included while Heinrich Klaasen has retired from international cricket.

With Rassie van der Dussen captaining the side, the side will have the experience in the form of Reeza Hendricks and Lungi Ngidi and four uncapped players.
Exciting left-handed batter Lhuan-dre Pretorius who is also in the Test squad, is in lin for a T20I debut alongside Rubin Hermann, left-arm spinner Senuran Muthusamy and all-rounder Corbin Bosch.
The batting line-up will be headed by return of Dewald Brevis, who played two T20Is for South Africa against Australia in 2023 and scored five runs collectively. He recently shined in IPL 2025 after joined replacement player for Chennai Super Kings.
“Lhuan-dré and Rubin have been rewarded for their outstanding domestic form in the SA20 and we’re excited to see how they adapt to the demands of international cricket,” Conrad said.
The tri-series which starts on July 14 includes New Zealand who will be coached by South Africa’s former white-ball coach Rob Walter. All the seven matches will be played in Harare.
