The Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav went on to finish the chase with a six during the Asia Cup 2025 game against Pakistan on September 14 at Dubai.
His unbeaten 47-run knock has guided India to 7-wicket victory against arch-rivals Pakistan in Sunday’s clash. By this win, India went on to retain their top spot in the Group A points table while Pakistan claimed second spot.
Batting first, Saim Ayub and Sahibzada Farhan opened the innings for Pakistan while Hardik Pandya opened the bowling attack.
Pandya made a stunning dismissal of Saim Ayub on a golden duck while Bumrah picked the wicket of Mohammad Haris for 3 runs. With two dismissals, Pakistan went on to score 42 runs in the powerplay in the back of Sahibzada Farhan and Fakhar Zaman knocks.
However, Axar Patel picked the wickets of Zaman and Salman Agha for 17 and 3 while Kuldeep Yadav picked the wickets of Hasan Nawaz and Mohammad Nawaz for 5 and duck.
Pakistan suffered a mini collapse losing 6 wickets for 64 runs. However, Sahibzada Farhan and Faheem Ashraf were in the pursuit of stabilising the innings.
But Kuldeep went on to break the partnership dismissing Farhan for 40 runs. With the dismissal of Ashraf for 11 runs, Shaheen went on to score 33 runs off 16 deliveries which included 4 sixes.
With Sufiyan Muqeem’s 10 runs, Pakistan were able to post 127 runs in their 20 over innings.
Kuldeep Yadav picked three wickets while, Axar Patel and Jasprit Bumrah picked two wickets each. Hardik Pandya and Varun Chakravarthy ended with 1 dismissals each.

In the pursuit of chasing 128 run target, Abhishek Sharma and Shubman Gill opened the innings while Shaheen Afridi opened the bowling attack.
Abhishek Sharma made a aggressive start while Gill had a composed start. However Saim Ayub bagged the wickets of Gill for 10 runs. Ayub further went on to pick the wicket of the Abhishek Sharma for 31 runs.
Suryakumar Yadav and Tilak Varma took stance as India scored 61 runs in the powerplay. Saim Ayub brought the third breakthrough picking the wicket of Tilak Varma for 31 runs.
With Shivam Dube joined SKY at crease, the duo went on to complete the chase with unbeaten 10* and 47* runs respectively.
India completed the chase in the 16th overs with 25 balls to spare. Kuldeep Yadav was named player of the match. Speaking on the post match conference, Kuldeep said, “ Simple. Just execute the plans. Just see who is batting and react accordingly. I had my plans and executed them.”
“First ball is always wicket-taking ball, just have to go with that mindset and execute that wicket-taking ball. Batter maybe set but he’s facing me for the first time. Still feel I really need to work on my bowling. Sometimes I feel I use too many variations,” he concluded.
India will be their next game against Oman on September 19 at Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Abu Dhabi.
