Former cricketer Suresh Raina has lauded captain Rohit Sharma for scoring a hundred in the second ODI in the England tour of India 2025. The veteran amassed 119 runs off 90 deliveries which featured 10 fours and 7 sixes.
The Men in Blues defeated the visitors in the second ODI to secure a 2-0 lead in the ongoing three-match ODI series.
Rohit Sharma’s 32nd ODI century in the fifty formats and the veteran was named the Player of the Match for his match-winning knock.
He forged a 136 run partnership along with Shubman Gill for the first wicket. Their partnership laid a solid platform in the chase of 305 target.
Raina made bold prediction about Rohit Sharma scoring 33rd ODI hundred during the final ODI match of the series.
“Century no. 33 loading in Ahmedabad. Rohit will score a hundred in the third game. Big players are like that. His sixes were superb in Cuttack. I said before the game that it would Rohit’s day and he showed us why he is one of the best batters in the world,” Suresh Raina said.

Rohit Sharma heaped heavy praise on Rohit’s strokeplay and said that the Indian captain used his footword effectively against the spinner.
“That 69 m six, the first shot—it deserves some commentary! My voice is already fading, but that flow, that signature of a great player, was evident. Look at all those shots in the ‘V’! He used his footwork brilliantly against the spinners. He played fewer dot balls after each boundary and six, focusing more on rotation,” said Raina.
After his failure in the Nagpur ODI, Raina suggested that Rohit could comeback to form in Cuttack. The former cricketer felt that the Indian captain had a different vibe in Cuttack.
Raina claimed that big players like Rohit wouldn’t leave anything for the final game of the series and will ensure everything is warpped by the second game.
“I had already said in the show that today is Rohit’s day. There was a different vibe in Cuttack, the fielding was sharp, and that’s how big players are—they win the series today, and they won’t leave Ahmedabad without seizing another opportunity. That 33rd century is also loading—I’m telling you!” said Raina.
India leads the 2-0 series and will play their final match of the series which begins on February 12 at Narendra Modi Stadium.
