Shubman Gill was appointed as the skipper for the side after Hardika Pandya joined Mumbai Indians on a transfer deal before the IPL 2024 auction in Dubai.

Shubman Gill was part of the squad that won the test series 4-1 on England’s tour of India in 2024. He played at no.3 spot and ended up scoring 452 runs in nine innings. He finished as the second run-getter in the series where Yashasvi Jaiswal was the highest run-getter in the series.

He joined Gujarat Titans ahead of IPL 2022 season where he amassed 890 runs in 17 innings. The side won their maiden IPL title in their inaugural season. He smashed three centuries during the 2023 campaign as Gujarat Titans finished up as runners.

On this occasion, his arrival in Ahmedabad to join the squad has been eagerly expected among the squad. The Franchise used social media handles to reveal the arrival of their skipper.

GT head coach Ashish Nehra has been part of the franchise’s success and spoke about the arrival of the skipper.

“We as a franchise, as a support staff, are excited to help him grow as a person more than as a captain. If he grows as a person, then he will be a better captain going forward,” said Nehra.

Gill will be having experienced leadership teammate Kane Williamson and Rashid Khan for guidance for the upcoming season.

The 17th edition of the IPL 2024 is set to commence on March 22 with Chennai and RCB is set to play in the first match of the schedule at Chennai Stadium.

Gujarat Titans will be playing their first match against five-time champion Mumbai Indians on March 24 at Narendra Modi Stadium.
