West Indies batter Shimron Hetmyer’s solid knock has helped the Seattle Orcas to claim their first victory in the MLC 2025 season during the game against MI New York in June 28 at Grand Prairie Stadium, Dallas.
His 97* run knock has helped the side to post a three-wicket victory on Saturday’s clash. By the win they secured fifth position in the MLC 2025 points table ahead of Los Angeles Knight Riders.
Batting first, de Kock and Monank Patel opened the innings while Kyle Mayers opened the bowling attack. The openers de Kock (1) and Monank Patel (20) was dismissed by by Mayers and Gerald Coetzee. However, Nicholas Pooran and Tajinder Dhilon went on to made solid knock as the captain posted 108* runs while Dhilon went on to score 95 runs before being dismissed by Coetzee.
With Pollard got dismissed for a duck, Bracewell’s (6*) has helped the side to post 237 runs in their 20 over innings. In the pursuit of chasing of 238 runs, Jahangir and Josh Brown opened the innings while Eshan Adil opened the bowling attack.

Despite Jahangir and Brown’s dismissal for 14 and 5 runs by Trent Boult, Kyle Mayers and Sikandar Raza helped the side to revive the side from early dismissal.
However, both the batters has been dismissed by Delano Potgieter. However, Shimron Hetmyer’s 97* runs off 40 deliveries has helped the side to march the side towards victory.
Despite losing seven wickets, Seattle Orcas went on to score 238 runs in their 20 over innings. Shimron Hetmyer was named as the Player of the Match. Speaking on the post-match presentation, Hetmyer said, “This one is one of the best, because our backs were against the wall and I’m still grimacing over the last game where we couldn’t cross the line.”
“Today is one of those days, where I went with a clear mind and wanted to take the game as deep as possible. That (injury) actually gave me a little bit of help, because I didn’t want to run much,” concluded Shimron Hetmyer.
Seattle Orcas will play their next game against Los Angeles Knight Riders on June 29 at Grand Prairie Cricket Stadium, Dallas.
