The former Sri Lanka international cricketer Shehan Jayasuriya has been named in the USA squad for the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026.
He is set to make a cut in the squad after scoring a 14th first-class century in Sri Lanka last week. The all-rounder has played 12 ODIs and 18 T20Is for Sri Lanka between 2015 and 2020.
Jayasuriya has been part of Sri Lanka’s 2016 T20 World Cup squad and moved to the USA in 2021.
Jayasuriya is among several new inclusions in the squad. Pakistan-born Mohammad Mohsin is also included, with Monank Patel and Jasdeep Singh having been named as captain and vice-captain, respectively.
Mohsin is yet to make his international debut, but he became eligible for selection after completing residency requirements. On the other hand, former Mumbai and Maharashtra all-rounder Shubham Ranjane has been included following a series of appearances for the USA in the ODI format.

Despite having yet to make his international debut for the USA, his inclusion is a major boost ahead of their second T20 World Cup appearance.
Placed in Group A, the USA will play their group-stage games against India, Pakistan, the Netherlands, and Namibia.
They will clash with co-hosts India on February 07 in Mumbai, before facing Pakistan on February 10 in Colombo. Pakistan, which is set to confirm its availability for the Men’s T20 World Cup on Friday, delays confirmation for the marquee event. However, it is highly unlikely for PCB to boycott the tournament.
The remaining fixtures will be played in Chennai against the Netherlands on February 13 and Namibia on February 15.
