Sandeep Lamichhane Completes his 100th T20I Wickets

During the Bangladesh vs Nepal clash in T20 World Cup 2024 in St Vincent, Sandeep Lamichhane achieved a huge milestone by bagging his 100th T20I wicket. Lamichhane achieved this massive feat in just 54 matches which is the second fastest in history.

Afghanistan spin wizard Rashid Khan leads the list by bagging his 100th T20I wicket in just 53 matches.

Lamichhane who faced tons of hurdles before reaching the T20 World Cup 2024 campaign made a memorable outing.

Lamichhane who was recently acquitted from the rape case by the Patan High Court was expected to join the Nepal squad for the 2024 T20 World Cup but his US Visa denial turned things down.

Later it was announced that the Right-arm leg-break would join the squad for the West Indies leg out of the tournament where Nepal will play their last two games of the 2024 T20 World Cup.

Without their star leg spinner, Nepal lost their game by 6 wickets against the Netherlands. After their second game against Sri Lanka was abandoned due to rain, their chances of qualifying for Super 8 became thin.

With a narrow defeat against South Africa, Nepal was eliminated from the tournament. Moreover, Nepal hasn’t registered a victory in their first three games.

After facing multiple hurdles, Lamichhane played his first game of the T20 World Cup 2024 against South Africa and went wicketless.

In Nepal’s final game against Bangladesh, Lamichhane made a bounce back and bagged a couple of wickets by dismissing Tanzim Hasan Sakib and Jaker Ali in his back-to-back overs.

With Jaker Ali’s dismissal in the 16th over, Sandeep Lamichhane completes his 100th T20I wicket mark and becomes the first Nepal player to do so.
