Several stars, including Sai Sudharsan and Arshdeep Singh, have been named in the India test squad for the upcoming England tour, which begins in June.
Meanwhile, players like Karun Nair and Shardul Thakur have been recalled to the test squad for the five-match series against England.
Shubman Gill has been named as India’s test captain and Rishabh Pant as the vice-captain by the selection panel led by Ajit Agarkar at a meeting in Mumbai.
Bumrah, who was vice captain of the side during Border Border-Gavaskar Trophy, is unlikely to play all five tests in England due to workload management, due to which he has not been given captaincy.
Gill will be taking over the reins from Rohit Sharma, who announced his retirement amid the ongoing IPL 2025 season.
The batting line up includes, Yashasvi Jaiswal, KL Rahul, Abhimanyu Easwaran in addition to Gill, Pant, Sai Sudharsan, Karun Nair and Dhruv Jurel.
On the other hand, four all-rounders have been named in the squad with Ravindra Jadeja, Washington Sundar, Shardul Thakur and Nitish Kumar Reddy.

The bowling department includes five fast bowlers, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, Akash Deep, Prasidh Krishna and Arshdeep Singh.
The upcoming tour will be India’s first series since the retirement of Ashwin, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma.
Meanwhile, Mohammed Shami has not been included in the side as he is not yet built up to bowl long spells.
On the other hand, Sarfaraz Khan and Harshit Rana are the players has been dropped out who were part of Border Gavaskar Trophy.
The five match test series will be India’s first series in WTC 2025-27 cycle. The first match will start at June 20 at Headingley, while the second, third and fourth test will begin on July 02, July 10, and July 23 at Edgbaston, Lord’s and Old Trafford.
The final clash of the series will begin on July 31 at The Oval.
