Ruturaj Gaikwad was Dropped by Sai Kishore in the first over

Chennai Super Kings’ skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad seems to have some luck in his second match of the season after being dropped on 1 run in the very first over he faced.

As per the IPL 2024 schedule, CSK were scheduled to face Gujarat Titans on March 26 in their home venue. Notably, both teams won their first match of the season and entered their second match with great confidence.

Winning the toss, Gujarat Titans decided to bowl first where Ruturaj Gaikwad and Rachin Ravindra opened the inning. In the final ball of the first over bowled by Azmatullah Omarzai, Ruturaj Gaikwad made an attempt to play away from his body and got an outside edge.

The ball straight away flies to Sai Kishore but drops it while standing at the first slip. Notably, in yesterday’s IPL match which was played between RCB and PBKS, Virat Kohli was dropped at 0 and went on to score 77 runs and that cost Punjab Kings a loss in the game.

Ruturaj Gaikwad who failed to score big enough in CSK’s opening game should make use of his second life to give a well-deserved opening score for CSK.

The defending champions CSK who played their first game of the season against RCB in the same venue defeated their opponent by 6 wickets and registered their first victory.

On the other hand, Rachin Ravindra who opened the game with Ruturaj made an aggressive start, unlike Gaikwad. As of now, CSK scored 41 runs for no loss at the end of 4 overs.

Winning the toss, GT captain Shubman Gill said “We will bowl first. That (against MI) match was physical and mentally exhausting. Everyone is well rested and well settled with 10 teams playing. We get enough rest time between matches. It shows the character of the team, the way our bowlers bounced back against Mumbai. Playing with the same team”.

CSK captain Ruturaj Gaikwad who lost the toss against GT said “We were looking to bowl first, wicket is hard and looks similar to the first game. It was a rusty start (against RCB) but we came back well. Everyone showed good intent throughout the innings. Our Malinga, Pathirana comes in for Theekshana“.
