India’s star batter Rohit Sharma has recently opened up about his weakness against left-arm seamers, calling it a part of the game.
The senior batter Rohit has likely been vulnerable to left-arm seamers, where he has suffered repeated dismissals against them.
In the ongoing IPL 2025 season, the opening batter has been dismissed thrice by the left-arm bowlers as he lost his wicket against Khaleel Ahmed, Yash Dayal and Arshad Khan.
Recently announcing his test retirement, Rohit has lost his wicket 110 times against a left-arm bowler. The star batter addressed the criticism of his batting, saying that it’s a part of the game and he can’t go around defending himself for every comment made.
“I’ve faced a lot of criticism, even unnecessary criticism. I can’t say that criticism doesn’t affect anyone. So much has been said about me getting out to left-arm seamers. Fine, it happens. That’s part of the game. But if you go around defending every comment, you’re just wasting your time. Defending myself is not my job,” said Rohit Sharma.

The 38 year old has been India’s most profilic test batter in the latter stages of his career, scoring 4301 runs in 67 tests with 12 hundreds and 18 half centuries at an average of 40.57.
His retirement comes after poor home series against Bangladesh, New Zealand, and Border Gavaskar Trophy. He cross 50 runs only once and averaged 10.93 from eight test games.
Rohit Sharma missed the first and last tests on BGT, the first due to birth of his child, and last due to his poor performance.
The right handed batter also has 88 sixes in longest format, the second most by an Indian after Virender Sehwag (91 sixes). He led India in 24 tests, and won 12 games, lost 9 and three ended in a draw.
Meanwhile, in the IPL 2025, Rohit started as a under par performance, but latter went back to his form scoring 300 runs in 11 innings at an average of 30 and a strike rate of 152.28.
His form will be crucial for the Mumbai Indians to continue to successful campaign in the coming days.
