The Indian skipper Rohit Sharma has ended speculations around his ODI retirement after India’s Champions Trophy triumph in the 2025 season.
He lead the side to title win after a four wicket win against New Zealand on March 09 at Dubai.
Ahead of the finals, social media was abuzz with rumours about the retirement of senior players Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Ravindra Jadeja.
However, the Indian captain has said, “I am not going anywhere and there is no question of my retirement.”
“I want to clarify that I am not going anywhere, I am not retiring from this format,” said Rohit Sharma.
He responded to a question during the media conference stating that things would continue as usual. He hinted that there is still a lot of hunger in him, implying his drive and passion remain strong.

Under his captaincy, India has reached back-to-back finals in the ICC events. He has shown valiant batting in the ongoing Champions Trophy 2025 making a solid start for the side.
His crucial knock of 76 against New Zealand in the finals has helped the side to march towards victory.
Considered one of India’s best all-format captains has led the side to the title in the 2024 T20 World Cup and the finals of the WTC 2023-25 finals and 2023 ODI World Cup.
Taking reigns from Virat Kohli, he has proved his leadership abilities and selfless approach across the formats. He has amassed 11,000+ runs in the 272 ODI matches at an average of 48.64 and a strike rate of 92.81 with a high score of 264 runs.
He has 32 centuries and 57 fifties to his name, and is two time world cup winner one of them as captain and finest batters to have represented India.
Having announced his T20I retirement after winning the 2024 title, he went on to feature in ODI and tests.
