The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has revoked Haider Ali’s suspension, who has not played any competitive cricket since he was cleared of rape allegations in Manchester.
Additionally, he has been handed NOC to play in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), alongside Mohammad Nawaz, Abrar Ahmed, Sahibzada Farhan, Faheem Ashraf, Hussain Talat, Khawaja Nafay and Ehasnaullah.
Haider Ali has represented Pakistan in 35 T20Is and 2 ODIs. He was touring England with the Pakistan Shaheens squad when Haider Ali was arrested by Manchester city police after a UK-born Pakistani Woman filed charges of rape against him.
The PCB had suspended Haider ‘pending the outcome of the ongoing investigation.’ Haider Ali’s career came to a halt earlier this year when a United Kingdom-born Pakistan woman accused him of the rape case while he was involved in the tour to England with the Pakistan Shaheens’ side.
The PCB didn’t waste any time before suspending him immediately, besides describing the steps as precautionary.
The Great Manchester police has also closed the case on September 25, concluding there was evidence to arrest the cricket and put him in court. The PCB has allowed the batted to return to professional cricket, which will provide him a chance to feature in the BPL 2025/26.
Haider Ali has overall amassed 505 runs for the Pakistan in 32 innings of the T20I cricket at an average of 17.41 and a strike rate of 124.69, which includes three half-centuries and a best score of 68 runs.
Overall in T20s, the middle-order batter clubbed 3141 runs in 154 innings at a strike rate of 139.65 with 17 fifties at the best score of unbeaten 91 runs.
The PCB also issued NOCs to Muhammad Nawaz, Abrar Ahmed, Sahabzada Farhan, Faheem Ashraf, Hussain Talat, Khawaja Nafay and Ehsanullah for the BPL. Meanwhile, Pakistan batter Umar Akmal was denied an NOC and has appealed to the board to explain the reason behind the decision.
“I don’t know the reason but I have missed out on some very good contracts because the board is just not clearing my applications to issue NOC to me,” Haider Ali said.
