The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has provided an update on pacer Haris Rauf’s condition following the recent injury he sustained during the Tri-Nation ODI series clash against New Zealand.
Pakistan pacer suffered an injury during the match against New Zealand and was taken off from the stadium. It was reported that Rauf suffered a grade 1 abdominal strain and was in doubt for the Champions Trophy.
Known for his ability to deliver in crucial moments, Haris Rauf has cemented himself as one of the pivotal figures in Pakistan’s lineup and heavily depended on shine in the upcoming Champions Trophy 2025.
However, PCB said that during medical evaluations, including MRI and X-ray scans, Haris Rauf has been diagnosed with a muscular sprain in his lower chest wall.
The Pakistan Board has confirmed that the injury is not serious and is expected to make full recovery time for the ICC event starting next week.

PCB has also stated that ‘as a precautionary measure and part of his ongoing rehabilitation, he will not be available for selection against South Africa on 12 February.’
“Following MRI and X-ray scans, it has been confirmed that Pakistan fast bowler Haris Rauf sustained a muscular sprain in the lower chest wall region during Saturday’s match against New Zealand.”
“The injury is not serious, and he is expected to be fully recovered for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, which commences in Karachi on 19 February.”
“However, as a precautionary measure and part of his ongoing rehabilitation, he will not be available for selection against South Africa on 12 February,” read the statement on the website.
As per Pakistan Champions trophy 2025 schedule, the hosts will play their first match against New Zealand on February 19 before a high intense clash against India on February 23.
