Pakistan was fined 5% of their match fee for maintaining a slow-over rate against New Zealand in their Champions Trophy opener match played on February 19.
According to the International Cricket Council (ICC), Pakistan was found to be one over short of the target even after considering given allowances.
The slow over-penalty only adds to Pakistan’s troubles in the tournament. Mohammed Rizwan-led side suffered a 60-run defeat to New Zealand. The defeat has put them in a challenging position in the race for the knockout stages.

As per Article 2.22 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, teams must adhere to the minimum over-rate requirements.
The rule states that players are fined five percent of their match fee for every over their side falls short of bowling within the allocated time.
The slow-over rate issue is something teams must remain aware of as repeated offenses can result in harsher penalties, including potential captaincy bans in future games.
Pakistan has already arrived in Dubai to prepare for their next Champions Trophy clash. Their next opponent will be archi rivals Men in Blues on February 22 at Dubai International Stadium.
