“Once I am done, I will….”, Virat Kohli Reveals his Retirement Plan

Star Indian batter Virat Kohli has spilled beans on his retirement plan saying that he would take a long break following his retirement before deciding his next phase.

Virat Kohli who made his international debut for India in 2008 is considered one of the greatest cricketers of the current era. The right-hander is one of the best cricketers that India has produced in their history.

Though Virat has not won any ICC trophy for the Indian cricket team his records with bat still stand tall. Notably, Kohli remains the front-runner in breaking Sachin Tendulkar’s record of 100 centuries.

Kohli, 35, still maintains a great fitness and continues to inspire budding cricketers with his dedication towards the sport.

Virat Kohli who plays for Royal Challengers Bengaluru in IPL 2024 revealed his retirement plan in a chat with his IPL franchise says as a sportsperson he doesn’t want to have any regrets once he done playing the game.

“I think as a sportsman, we do have an end-date to our careers. So I am just working backwards. I don’t want to finish my career thinking ‘oh, what if I have done this on that particular day’ because I can’t keep going on and on forever. So it’s just about not leaving any undone business behind and not have any regrets later, which I am sure I won’t,” said Kohli at RCB’s Royal Gala Dinner.

Kohli suggested that once he retires from cricket, he would take a long break before deciding his next chapter.

“Once I am done, I will be gone, you won’t see me for a while (smiles). So I want to give it everything I have till the time I play, and that’s the only thing that keeps me going,” he added.

Virat Kohli is currently playing for RCB in IPL 2024 and remains the highest run-getter of the season with 661 runs in 13 innings at a strike rate of 155.16 and also maintains an impressive average of 66.10.

With 12 points under their belt, RCB positioned at the fifth spot in the IPL 2024 points table and still remains alive in the IPL 2024 playoffs race. Their final league clash against Chennai Super Kings on May 18 in M. Chinnaswamy Stadium will decide their future in the season.

However, the clash faces threat from the rain as the weather forecast predicting rain for the next five days in Bengaluru. In case of a washout, both teams will be awarded a point each where RCB will be officially eliminated from the tournament while CSK will qualify for the playoffs.
