“What I like about them,” Naseer Hussain’s Wake-Up Call for India ahead of second Test

The former England captain thinks that the Men in Blues’ defeat in the 1st Test of England’s tour will be a wake-up call for India’s side.

Naseer Hussain’s Wake-Up Call for India

The Men in Blues are scheduled to play in a five-match test series on England’s tour of India in 2024. After playing a Bazball style in the first test match against India, the uncapped players Tom Hartley and Shoaib Bashir worked up on Indian pitches to secure victory.

Naseer Hussain didn’t want to make words about Ben Stokes and Co, he has warned the hosts about the Bazball style of the visitors.

The batter Olli Pope showed his weightage in the second innings scoring 196 runs and debutant Tom Hartley amended his first game with impressive spells.

Hartley intensified the pressure on the hosts with his seven-wicket haul. On this occasion, Naseer Hussain shared  his thoughts on the performance of England saying,

“What I like about them is their stubbornness. If you doubt them, they’ll double down on it and go even more stubborn.”

“I think that is a good thing because if you’re constantly listening to all the noise, all that’s written and said, you flicker from one theory to another. The present regime knows what it wants.”

“They’re going to stick with that and even when they’re behind, they will back the cricketers to turn it around. They have shown they are a side not to be messed with,” said Hussain.

“India will probably rue their first innings. They got 436 but actually, they could have got a lot more if not for some sloppy dismissals. They will come back.”

“They are a very fine side and history tells you it will be tough for England here. But it is a wake-up call for India as England have shown Bazball can work in these conditions,” Hussain added.

On the other hand, Indian head coach Rahul Dravid admitted that Pope’s counterattack was the root cause of England’s victory in the first Test.

He was named as the Player of the Match for his impressive knock in the second innings. Naseer Hussain has opined that India will level the series in the second test.

India and England will be playing their second Test starting on February 02 at ACA- VDCA Cricket Stadium.
