The Indian fast bowler Mohammed Siraj has been fined 15 per cent of the match fee for violating the ICC Code of Conduct during the dour day of the third test of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy at Lord’s Test.

He was seen celebrating excessively right next to the English batter for his aggressive reaction over Ben Duckett’s dismissal.

Mohammed Siraj was found to have breached Article 2.5 of the ICC Code of Conduct for players and player support personnel, which relates to “using language, actions or gestures which disparage or which could provoke an aggressive reaction from a batter upon his/her dismissal during an International Match.”

The incident occured in the sixth over of England’s second innings, when Siraj, after dismissing the opener.

On-field umpires Paul Reiffel and Sharfuddoula Ibne Shahid, third umpire Ahsan Raza and fourth umpire Graham Lloyd levelled the charge which Siraj admitted and accepted the decision.

It is his second offence in a 24 month period, taking his tally of demerit points in a 24-month period or two.

The right arm pacer received his earlier demerit point during the second test against Australia in Adelaide last year.

England posted 192 runs in their second innings after some serious bowling attacks from Washington Sundar, Mohammed Siraj and Jasprit Bumrah.

In the pursuit of chasing 193 runs, India went on to lose four wickets for 58 runs at the stumps on day 04 at Lord’s, London.

Commenting on India’s position in the match, All-rounder Washington Sundar backed his team to comfortably chase the target.

“Definitely, India (are) winning tomorrow. Probably just after Lunch. Yeah, the position we’re in right now, probably for one (wicket) at Stumps today would have been ideal.”

“But the way we bowled, all the fast bowlers in particular, the way they came out today, kept the pressure going throughout the day, it was amazing,” stated Washington Sundar.
