After their defeat in the first T20I against New Zealand, the side is likely to sideline Usama Mir and include Mohammad Nawaz in the squad for the next match of Pakistan’s New Zealand tour.

Mohammad Nawaz likely to replace Usama Mir in second T20I

After a weak performance in the first T20I, Usama Mir will likely be replaced by Mohammad Nawaz for the second T20I. Pakistan and New Zealand are set to play in the five-match T20I series where New Zealand won the first T20I to lead the series 1-0.

Usama Mir bowled four overs and returned with no wickets giving 51 runs. During Pakistan’s innings, he was dismissed by Ben Sears for 1 run.

Pakistan won the toss and chose to bowl where the Blackcaps scored an impressive 226 runs losing 8 wickets. Williamson and Daryl Mitchell smashed half-centuries in their innings.

After suffering a 46-run defeat in the first T20I, Pakistan is set to make some changes in the squad. On this occasion, it is rumored that Nawaz will replace Usama Mir in the squad.

Mohammad Nawaz was benched during the first match against New Zealand. He made his last appearance during the 3rd T20I match against Afghanistan at Sharjah on March 27, 2023.

The 29-year-old has played 6 Tests, 37 ODIs, and 57 T20Is so far and will be expected to feature in the Playing 11 for the second match against New Zealand.

Pakistan and New Zealand will be playing their second T20I match on January 14 at Seddon Park.
