    The right-arm quick Matiullah, left-arm spinner Simranjeet have been added to the UAE squad for the upcoming Asia Cup 2025, which is set to begin on September 09.

    They are the additional players added to the UAE squad for the T20I Tri-Series against Pakistan and Afghanistan.

    Matiullah has played one ODI and five T20Is so far. The last of those T20Is came against Nigeria in the Pearl of Africa series in July.

    Meanwhile, Simranjeet has played five ODIs and 11 T20Is. He last represented the UAE at the Gulf T20I championship last December.

    UAE previous Asia Cup appearance was in 2016 in Bangladesh, when the tournament was played in the T20 format as well.

    Placed in Group A, UAE will play their group stage games against India, Pakistan and Oman. They will play their opener match against official hosts India on September 10.

    The UAE haven’t beaten Pakistan and India in the shortest format yet, but have got the better of Oman five times.

    UAE have faced only defeat in the ongoing tri-nation series and are set to play their next match against Pakistan in Sharjah.
