The Bangladesh captain Litton Das is set to miss the upcoming T20I series against Afghanistan as he sustained a grade 01 strain on the left abdominal muscle during the Asia Cup.
In his absence, Soumya Sarkar will be returning to the T20Is with Jaker Ali to lead the side in the absence of the regular captain.

Litton Das missed Bangladesh’s last two Asia Cup games against India and Pakistan and team pyhsio Bayjedul Islam confirmed that scans revealed a grade 1 strain.

“He (Litton Das) had missed the last two matches of the Asia Cup with a side strain. An MRI scan has revealed a grade 1 strain on the left abdominal muscle,” said Bayjedul.
“He is undergoing recovery and will not be available for the T20 series. The medical team will continue to manage his rehab and monitor his progress.”
Meanwhile, Soumya Sarkar returns to the shorter format after being sidelined by injuries which has ruled him out of T20I series against UAE and Pakistan. His last appearance in T20Is was in the West Indies in December 2024.
The T20I series is set to be played on October 02 at Sharjah Cricket Stadium.
