List of Players to Miss Champions Trophy 2025: As per the Champions Trophy 2025 schedule, the first match will be played between Pakistan and New Zealand on February 19 at National Stadium, Karachi.
The ninth edition of the Champions Trophy will be played between 19 February and 9 March 2025. Pakistan was announced as the host for the Champions Trophy 2025 on 16 November 2021.
The tournament will follow Round Robin and Knockout format where the top two teams of the respective groups in the Champions Trophy 2025 points table will advance to the knockout stage.

The final of the Champions Trophy 2025 will be played on 9 March 2025 in Lahore but if India qualified for the finals then the match will be played in UAE.

Mitchell Marsh
The Australian all-rounder Mitchell Marsh has been ruled out of the Champions Trophy 2025 due to a back complaint he battled during the home summer.
Marsh who was ruled out for Australia’s test line-up before the final match of the Border Gavaskar Trophy campaign against India, has not played since a sole BBL appearance for Perth Scorchers last season.

Marcus Stoinis
Australia’s seam-bowling all-rounder Marcus Stoinis has announced his retirement from the ODI format with immediate effect on 6 February 2025. Stoinis played his last ODI against Pakistan last November and retires with a batting average of 26.69. He also picked 48 ODI wickets at an average of 43.12.
Cricket Australia (CA) has confirmed that Stoinis will continue to be available for the short formats. Initially, Stoinis was included in the Australia squad for Champions Trophy 2025.

Pat Cummins
Pat Cummins who was initially named as the captain of the Australia squad has been ruled out of the 2025 Champions Trophy owing to the Ankle Issue. Pat Cummins has not yet recovered from the ankle issue he sustained during the Border Gavaskar Trophy series against India.
Australia are likely to pick between Steven Smith and Travis Head to lead Australia in the Champions Trophy.
Josh Hazlewood
Josh Hazlewood suffered a hip injury during the middle of the Border Gavaskar Trophy series 2024-25 and was ruled out after the third Test in Brisbane. Hazlewood will require an extended period of rehabilitation before they receive the all-clear to return to play.

Anrich Nortje
South African fast bowler Anrich Nortje has been ruled out of the Champions Trophy 2025 with a back injury.
Initially, Anrich Nortje was named in the South Africa squad for Champions Trophy 2025 which was set to begin on 19 February 2025. Notably, the South African pacer has not played any international cricket since the T20 World Cup 2024 final in June last year.
Nortje was last on the field on December 2 in the Abu Dhabi T10 but was included in South Africa’s recent white-ball series against Pakistan. But Anrich Nortje was ruled out of the T20I series against Pakistan after David Miller’s yorker fractured his toe during a net session.
Later Nortje decided to skip the 2024/25 Test season to save his injury-prone body to feature in the Franchise cricket but the plan backfired.
Anrich Nortje who was expected to play for Pretoria Capitals in SA20 2025 season hasn’t played a single game for the franchise. Despite his inconsistency, Cricket South Africa(CSA) has named Nortje in their Champions Trophy squad.
With few days after the squad announcement, CSA revealed that Anrich Nortje will miss the CT 2025 to be held in Pakistan and Dubai (India matches).

Jasprit Bumrah
India’s ace bowler Jasprit Bumrah has been ruled out of Champions Trophy due to back injury he sustained during the fifth match of the Border Gavaskar Trophy.
While his latest scans did not reveal anything abnormal, it is learnt that he is not entirely ready to return for bowling. His progress will continue to be monitored by BCCI’s medical team.
Initially he was named in India’s Champions Trophy squad, but as he failed to recover from the injury he has been ruled out for the tournament.

With there is no timeline on his return, he will likely resume his bowling in a couple of weeks.
This will be the second ICC tournament Jasprit Bumrah will be missing due to injury, after missing the 2022 T20 World Cup in Australia due to back injury which made him to have a surgery.
Jacob Bethell
The England batter Jacob Bethell has been Ruled out of the Champions Trophy 2025 after developing a hamstring injury.
According to reports, Bethell had experienced pain in his upper left leg following the ODI series in Nagpur.

The scan a suspected tear, which is likely to rule the left-hander out for four to six weeks. England had called wk-batter Tom Banton from Dubai as cover for the all-rounder, who is coming off a sensational ILT20, smashing a couple of centuries playing for the MI Emirates.
Saim Ayub
Saim Ayub has been ruled out of the Champions Trophy 2025 due to Ankle injury. He continues to recover from an ankle injury he suffered during the South Africa test series.
Ayub was examined by two noted orthopedic surgeons in London, Dr David Redfern and Dr Lucky Jeyaseelan.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced that the opener Saim Ayub is making good progress in his recovery from a right ankle injury and will continue his rehabilitation in England.
According to the statement, it is confirmed that Saim will be sidelined for 10 weeks following an ankle injury sustained during Pakistan’s New Year Test against South Africa in Cape Town.
Gerald Coetzee
South Africa, pacer Gerald Coetzee has been ruled out of the Champions Trophy 2025 in Pakistan due to a groin issue.
The 24-year-old played only one game in the SA20 2025 because of a left hamstring injury and was making his return after playing just one match in the space of two months.

The news comes on the same day after the announcement of the South Africa’s Champions Squad.
AM Ghazanfar
Afghanistan’s AM Ghazanfar has been ruled out of the Champions Trophy 2025 due to an L4 Vertebra fracture with Nangyal Kharoti replacing him in the squad.

The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) confirmed that Ghazanfar has sustained a fracture in the L4 vertebra, specifically in the left pars interarticularis, and will be sidelined for a minimum of four months.
Lockie Ferguson
The 33-year-old Lockie Ferguson has been ruled out of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 due to a foot injury, with Kyle Jamieson having been named as a replacement.

Ferguson who did not play in the Tri-nation series, suffered a hamstring injury during the International League T20. He experienced pain in his right foot while bowling in an informal warm-up match against Afghanistan in Karachi.
Jamieson made his comeback into domestic cricket in December, playing a key role in taking Canterbury Kings to the Super Smash final and finishing the tournament as second most wicket taker.
Ben Sears
The pacer Ben Sears has been ruled out of the Champions Trophy due to a hamstring injury and the team management has named Jacob Duffy as replacement.
It was reported that he felt pain in his left hamstring at the team’s training session in Karachi.

A subsequent scan revealed a minor tear that would require at least two weeks of rehabilitation, New Zealand Cricket said in a statement.
That meant Sears would have been available only from the team’s final group match onwards, against India in Dubai on March 02.
Sears played both of New Zealand’s league-stage games in the tri-nation series, but went wicketless after 16 overs, conceding 104 runs in them.
Mitchell Starc
Australia’s Champions Trophy 2025 title run has suffered a major blow as Mitchell Starc has withdrawn from the tournament due to personal reasons.
Cricket Australia has confirmed that the formidable duo will be missing the ICC tournament starting next week.

With Pat Cummins and Josh Hazlewood ruled out due to respective injuries, Mitchell Marsh withdrew due to injury and Marcus Stoinis announced his ODI retirement, Australia announced a new set of players in addition to Starc pulling out of the event.
