Kuldeep Yadav and KL Rahul Ruled out of South Africa T20I Series

India’s stand-in captain for the South Africa tour of India 2022 series KL Rahul and Kuldeep Yadav has been ruled out of the entire series owing to groin injury.

KL Rahul who has been appointed as the captain for the South Africa series in the place of Rohit Sharma has been ruled out along with Kuldeep Yadav who has been injured while batting in the nets.

According to the BCCI, Rahul has been ruled out of the T20I series against South Africa owing to a right groin injury. Spinner Kuldeep will miss the T20I series after getting hit on his right hand while batting in the nets on Tuesday.

“Left-arm spinner Kuldeep Yadav will also miss out the T20 series after getting hit on his right hand while batting in the nets on Tuesday evening”, a BCCI statement read.

“The All-India Senior Selection Committee has named wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant as Captain and Hardik Pandya as vice-captain for the home series against South Africa,” the BCCI tweeted.

“Team India Captain KL Rahul has been ruled out of the T20I series against South Africa owing to a right groin injury while Kuldeep Yadav will miss out in the T20I series after getting hit on his right hand while batting in the nets last evening.”

In the absence of KL Rahul, Rishabh Pant has been named as the replacement captain while Hardik Pandya has been named as the vice-captain of the Indian T20I squad.

The Indian selection committee has not yet named the replacement for both players. In the absence of KL Rahul, Ruturaj Gaikwad is expected to open the innings with Ishan Kishan.

KL Rahul and Kuldeep Yadav will head to the NCA where the medical team will assess them further and decide on the future course of treatment.
