KL Rahul has completed his fitness test successfully on September 4 at NCA and will be joining the squad for the Super Fours in the Asia Cup 2023

With the victory against Nepal in the 5th match of the continental event, India has completed its group stage matches and qualified for Super Four after Pakistan. On this occasion, Indian batter KL Rahul made his comeback to the side after clearing his fitness test who was rested in the group stage matches due to a niggle in his injury.

After completing his fitness test, KL Rahul thanked the NCA staff for the treatment. He had taken to X (Twitter) to express his gratitude towards BCCI and NCA.

“Reflecting on my journey in the last few months, which has been filled with challenges and lessons. The road has been humbling. A big shoutout to Nitin sir, Yogesh sir, Rajini sir, Dhananjay Bhai, Shalini, and everyone at the NCA for your efforts and commitment towards getting me back on the ground Special mention to the team at Wellington Hospital in London and Dr. Rahul Patel for a smooth op. Lastly to the BCCI for the constant support and belief,” he said.


Before Asia Cup, the head coach Rahul Dravid revealed that KL Rahul will be not playing in the first two matches in the Asia Cup fixtures due to a niggle in the injury and his reassessment will take place on September 4.

“He (KL Rahul) had a good week with us, he is progressing really well on the route that we want to take, but he will be unavailable for the first part of the Kandy leg of the trip. The NCA will be looking after him while we are traveling. We will reassess him on the fourth (September 4) and we will take it from there. The signs are good and he is progressing really well,” Dravid said.

India and Pakistan are qualified for the Super Four from Group A and the 6th match of the Asia Cup between Sri Lanka and Afghanistan at Gaddafi Stadium on September 5, will decide the teams to make it for Super Four from Group B.

There will be six matches played between the teams qualified for the Super Four and the top two teams will be playing finals on September 17 in Colombo.
