After a clinical bowling performance from Sri Lanka bowlers, Kamil Mishara and Pathum Nissanka’s knock has set up a 6-wicket victory in the Asia Cup 2025 game against Bangladesh on September 13 at Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Abu Dhabi.

By this win, Sri Lanka leapfrogged in the Group B of the Asia Cup 2025 points table.

After being put to bat first, Bangladesh openers Tanzid Hasan and Parvez Hossain Emon got dismissed on a duck by Nuwan Thushara and Chameera.

Both the bowlers put a maiden over as Bangladesh did not score run until the end of 2nd over.

With the dismissal of Towhid Hridoy for 8 runs on a run out, Bangladesh lost three wickets in the powerplay scoring only 30 runs.

Wanindu Hasaranga who introduced to bowling after powerplay, picked the wickets of Mahedi Hasan and Litton Das for 9 and 28 runs respectively.

With Bangladesh struggling with 53/5 in the 10th over, Jaker Ali and Shamim Hossain stepped up forging a solid parntership and helped the side to post a decent total in their 20 over innings.

With Jaker Ali’s 41* and Hossain’s 42*, Bangladesh went up to set up the target of 140 for Sri Lanka.

In the pursuit of chasing 140 run target, Pathum Nissanka and Kusal Mendis opened the innings while Shoriful Islam opened the bowling attack.

With the dismissals of Kusal Mendis, Kusal Perera and Dasun Shanaka on cheap dismissals, Pathum Nissanka went on to score 50 runs off 34 deliveries.

Kamil Mishara went on to score unbeaten 46 runs off 32 deliveries helping the side to finish the run chase in the 15th over.

Kamil Mishara was named as the Player of the match. Speaking on the post match conference, Mishara said, “Pathum said to just play normal game, take your time and do your things. Very happy to win a game for the country again. I believe in my strengths and work hard for it.”

India and Pakistan are set to clash in the next game of the Asia Cup 2025 on September 14 at Dubai International Stadium, Dubai.
