Justin Langer Updates on Mayank Yadav’s Injury; Unlikely to Play against DC

Lucknow Super Giants head coach Justin Langer has revealed that sensational pacer Mayank Yadav will not feature in a couple of IPL 2024 matches due to an injury.

Justin Langer Updates on Mayank Yadav’s Injury

LSG coach Justin Langer has confirmed that the franchise will miss the services of Mayank Yadav in their next match against DC. Mayank Yadav suffered a swelling in his hip during LSG’s last encounter with GT where the pacer left the ground after bowling only one over in the previous game.

LSG is set to play the match against Delhi Capitals after securing a win against Gujarat in their previous match, where they defended a total of 163 runs. Spinner Krunal Pandya and Ravi Bishnoi helped the side to win the match.

But Yash Thakur stole the spotlights after the brilliance of the spinners, picking up the 5-wicket haul in the IPL 2024 season.

“He felt a little bit of tightness at the top of his hip leading into the last game, but that was about a one-out-of-ten pain, and we thought that there were clinical signs,” said Langer on the pre-match conference on Thursday.

“Everything through the doctors and the physios seemed perfectly okay. He bowled that first over [against Titans] and started feeling something in his hip.”

“But we had an MRI scan, and there is a very, very small swelling in there. So we are very hopeful he’ll start building himself up and be back bowling again soon,” added Langer.

Langer has revealed that LSG is trying to get Mayank Yadav for the CSK game which the team is set to play on April 19.

“That’s the plan [to have Mayank fit for the match against Chennai Super Kings on April 19]. We want him to play every game if possible. But he’ll be working towards it; he’s working very hard every day to be ready for whatever our next game is.”

“He won’t play tomorrow; it’s unlikely… with the very short turnaround, it’s unlikely that he plays these two games. But he’s certainly working towards playing whenever he possibly can,” concluded Langer.

Coming to the tournament, LSG has three victories in four matches they played in IPL 2024 and secured the third position of the IPL 2024 schedule.

Lucknow Super Giants and Delhi Capitals will be playing in their next match on April 12 at Ekana Sports City, Lucknow.
