The ECB has recalled fast bowler Jofra Archer in the England Playing 11 for the third test of the Tendulkar-Anderson Trophy after being sidelined from the long format for more than four years.
His elbow and back injuries have long restricted Archer to White-ball appearances, but he returned to first-class cricket with 18 overs for Sussex last month and has been named in England’s team to face India on the ground where he made his Test debut six years ago.
In 2019, Jofra Archer was brought in to bowl after Steve Smith‘s twin hundred at Edgbaston and hit him on the helmet during a lightning fast spell and will be taking up in form Shubman Gill in the third test.
Archer will be replacing Josh Tongue in the Playing 11. Apart from that, Three Lions have made no changes to their squad. The batting unit disappointed in the second test, which resulted in a massive 336-run defeat in Birmingham.

Gus Atkinson was also expected to play, but the team management held him back and is likely to feature in the fourth test in Manchester.
Ben Stokes and Zak Crawley is under the scanner after the subpar knocks so far. Veteran Joe Root also need to prove himself in the middle.
Both India and England have one victories each and will be aiming to extend a win at the Lord’s, London. Meanwhile, it is reported that India will be fielding Jasprit Bumrah for the third test.
It will be interesting to see how the Men in Blues will field their 11 for the third test. The third test will be played between July 10 and 14 at Lord’s, London.
