The Indian WK-Batter Rishabh Pant is set to make his return in IPL 2024 and his door for a return to national cricket is also open.

Rishabh Pant met with a car accident in December 2022 and has been out of action for more than a year. As he recovered completely from the injuries, he was seen batting and keeping along with Hardik Pandya in the National Cricket Academy.

With his availability for IPL 2024 has been expected by his fans, the news about his opportunity for the Upcoming World Cup will be a treat to Indian fans.

While speaking in the media Jay Shah said, “Pant is doing well and he is batting and is also keeping. In the near future, we (BCCI) will declare him fit.”

He termed Pant as a “big asset” for Team India. “If he can play the T20 World Cup for us, that will be a big thing for us. He is a big asset for us,” added Shah.

Recently Delhi Capitals coach Ricky Ponting also revealed about Pant’s availability for IPL 2024.

“It’s a big decision we’ll have to make because if he is fit, you’d think he’d step straight back into that captaincy role,” Ponting said.

“If he’s not entirely fit and we have to use him in a slightly different role, then we’ve got some decisions to make there.”

Ponting revealed that Pant has been working hard for his return to the game. When asked if Pant would be ready for the first IPL match, Ponting revealed that NCA had been given a match-ready certificate last week.

“He’s actually played some practice matches over the last couple of weeks, which has been really encouraging for us,” Ponting said.

“I know he’s worked incredibly hard on his body and his fitness to get back to the level that he’s at now. He’s kept in one of those games, he’s fielded in these games and the batting hasn’t seemingly been an issue for him so far,” Ponting concluded.

India will be playing their first match of the Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 against Ireland on June 05 at Nassau County International Cricket Stadium.
