    Javeria Khan Announces Retirement

Former Pakistan Captain and senior batter Javeria Khan has shared an emotional note, confirming that she is set to end her 15-year international career.

“There was joy and sorrow, but above all a sense of great pride that kept me going for 15 years. The privilege of wearing Pakistan’s jersey was way bigger than the odds that struck through my cricketing journey.”

“I am blessed to have lived my life doing what I loved the most and will continue to do so,” said Javeria Khan on Social media.

“I want to call it a day and announce my retirement, however, I will be available for league cricket. I am grateful for the unwavering support I received throughout my career.

“I want to thank my family, teammates, the Pakistan Cricket Board, my department, ZTBL for their support and guidance at each step, and my fans, whose appreciation was instrumental in bringing out the best in me,” Javeria said.

“I have been blessed to hold Pakistan’s flag globally. On behalf of the PCB and all cricket fans, I extend heartfelt gratitude to Javeria Khan for her invaluable contributions to women’s cricket in Pakistan.”

“Her glittering records with the bat speak for themselves and I am confident that her illustrious career will inspire many girls in the country to not just take up this sport but also excel at it across many years,” Tania Mallick, head of women’s cricket said.

“As Javeria announces her retirement, we reflect on her remarkable career and the services she has rendered for Pakistan cricket. We thank her for her untiring commitment and wish her all the success in her future endeavors.”

She made her last international appearance during the group stage match on ICC Women’s T20 World Cup on February 15, 2023, at Cape Town.

The 35-year-old Right-handed batter has played around 116 ODIs and 112 T20Is in her career and amassed 2885 and 2018 runs in respective formats. She also amassed 25 half-centuries and bagged 28 international wickets. Recently, Javeria Khan tied the knot in a grand wedding ceremony held in Karachi.

Javeria currently tops the list of highest run-scorers in ODIs and T20Is for the Pakistan women’s team and is the only women’s cricketer from Pakistan to have scored 2000 runs other than Bismah Maroof.

She has played in four 50-over World Cups and played in all editions of the T20 World Cup. She was part of the Pakistan Women’s team which won Gold medals in the 2010 and 2014 Asian Games in China and South Korea.
