India’s ace pacer Jasprit Bumrah is likely to miss the second test against England and Siraj is likely to lead the pace department at Birmingham.
After losing the first test at Headingley, the Men in Blues are set to miss their key bowler for the second test of Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy. Earlier ahead of the series, India’s head coach said that Bumrah will be playing only three test to manage his workload.
Bumrah went on to storm England line up picking a five-fer in their first innings, but went wicketless in the second innings at Headingley which led to hosts win at Leeds.
He bowled 44 overs at Headingley and will sit out for the second test at Edgbaston. However, he is anticipated to return for the third test at Lord’s starting on July 10.
After the conclusion of the first test, India’s head coach Gautam Gambhir said that there is no plan change on Bumrah as the fitness is more important who has been struggling with back injury.

Former India head coach Ravi Shastri spoke on the matter and said, “Bumrah said he’ll play three Test matches. Now, which of the three he’ll play, that’s, you know, another question to be asked. I think if he takes a break, it’ll be the next one, because he’ll definitely want to play at Lord’s, right?”
“And there’s a break, and then you go into Lord’s, then there’s a break, and then there’s a choice between Manchester and the same. It could be 2-0 down. So that is the problem. I think he has got to play,” said Ravi Shastri.
Meanwhile, former India spinner Ravichandran Ashwin said, “After such a good individual performance by Bumrah, and with India down 0-1, I wouldn’t rest him. I would ask him to play the second Test, help India level the series, and then take a break. There’s a good gap between the third and fourth Test where he can rest.”
The second match is set to begin next week on July 02 and will be played until 06 at Edgbaston, Birmingham.
