The franchise has officially revealed that Dale Steyn has resigned from the position due to personal reasons. James Franklin is set to make his stint in IPL as a coach for the upcoming season.

But he has coaching experience with Durham in County cricket and PSL team Islamabad United as an assistant coach. He is set to join his former teammate Daniel Vettori who was appointed as the SRH’s head coach after IPL 2023.

They both have worked together at Middlesex in county cricket as well as Phoenix in the Hundred competition.

Franklin has played 31 Tests, 110 ODIs, and 38 T20Is between the years 2001 and 2013 during his international career. Earlier this day, SRH named Pat Cummins as their new captain for the IPL 2024 who replaced Aiden Markram.

Pat Cummins was bought by the franchise for INR 20.50 crores during the IPL 2024 mini-auction during last year’s December in Dubai and was the second most expensive player in history.

Speaking about his debut for the SRH team, Pat Cummins said, “India is like a second home. We spend so much time here. IPL you’ve got your home teams.

So you actually feel like you’ve got plenty of fans Or, you know, at least cricket fans that have, you know, supported you or, you know, lots of people come up to me and say, Oh, I’m from Kolkata or I go for KKR. So it’s nice feeling like not everyone’s against you,” concluded Cummins.

The 17th edition of the tournament is set to begin on March 22 with CSK and RCB playing in the first match of the IPL 2024 schedule.

Sunrisers will be playing their first match in the campaign against Lucknow Super Giants on March 24 at Sawai Mansingh Indoor Stadium.
