Jaiswal Equals Wasim Akram’s Record for Most Sixes

Nearly for 28 years, Pakistan batter Wasim Akram holds the record for hitting the most sixes in a test innings in a match against Zimbabwe in 1996. Indian youngster Jaiswal equals the record for hitting most sixes in an inning during the India vs England 3rd Test at Rajkot.

Jaiswal achieved this milestone in the 2nd inning of the test and went on to score an unbeaten 214 runs. He scored 214 runs at a strike rate of 90.68 which includes 14 boundaries and 12 sixes.

Jaiswal was expected to surpass the Pakistan legend’s record but only managed to equal his achievement as India declared the inning for 430 runs after losing 4 wickets. Following are the details of the players with most sixes in a test innings:

As far as the match is concerned, India won the toss and opted to bat first and managed to score 445 runs after losing 10 wickets in their 1st inning. With Siraj’s 4-wicket haul, India managed to clear England’s batting lineup for 319 runs.

In India’s second inning, the host lost their captain Rohit Sharma for just 19 runs and made a struggling start. But Jaiswal and Gill managed to build 161 runs for the second wicket.

Following Gill’s unexpected run-out dismissal, Jaiswal and Sarfaraz Khan made a steady inning and pushed India’s score beyond 400 in the 2nd innings. India declared the inning after scoring 430 runs for 4-wicket loss where Jaiswal and Sarfaraz Khan remained unbeaten for 214 and 68 runs respectively.

On the other hand, with a mammoth target to chase, England lost their openers cheaply and made a struggling start. As of now, England scored 28 runs for 3 wickets loss where Joe Root and Jonny Bairstow stand at the crease with 5 and 4 runs respectively.
