“It gives you motivation to get back”, Rohit’s plan to overcome World Cup loss

The skipper Rohit Sharma is looking forward to the Test series in India’s South Africa tour to overcome the World Cup loss.

Rohit’s plan to overcome World Cup loss

After suffering the defeat in the World Cup 2023 finals, the Indian skipper felt heartbreak and found himself in a wrench. He was rested during five T20Is against Australia and ODI and T20I matches against South Africa.

Recently, Rohit opened up his emotions to the media on December 13. He will be returning for the action for the South Africa test. The men in blues are scheduled to play in the three-ODIs, three T20Is, and Two Test matches in India’s South Africa tour.

“I had no idea how to come back from this (loss in the World Cup final) the first few days…my family, my friends kept me going, kept things pretty light around me, which was quite helpful. It wasn’t easy to digest, but yeah, life moves on. You have to move on in life,” said the Indian captain.

“At times I thought we did everything we could from our side if someone asked me what went wrong because we won 10 games and in those 10 games, yes, we made mistakes.”

“But those mistakes happen in every game. You cannot have a perfect game. You can have a near-perfect game but never a perfect game,” Sharma expressed.

The disappointment of the World Cup loss is still stirring in his heart and the Indian skipper has understood that the South Africa tour will be a challenge and it will be a perfect opportunity to heal the wounds of the World Cup defeat.

As Sharma said, “It was just pure love from the people that I met and it was wonderful to see that. So, you know, it gives you motivation to get back and start working again and look for another ultimate prize,” he concluded.

After concluding the ODI series in South Africa with a victory, India will be playing their first test match against Proteas men on December 26 at SuperSport Park Cricket Stadium.
