Political tensions between the two countries have prevented bilateral cricket other than major tournaments since 2008, with India had visited Pakistan 16 years ago. However, Pakistan did travel to India for the 2023 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup.
The top four teams from the round robin format will progress to the semi finals with the first place playing fourth and second taking on third.
Being the hosts, India automatically qualify for the main event, Australia also auto qualified after clinching their seventh title in the 2022.
Meanwhile, England, New Zealand, South Africa and Sri Lanka also punched their ticket via the women’s Championship standings. The final two spots have been decided by the Women’s Cricket World Cup Qualifiers earlier this year where Pakistan and Bangladesh booked their ticket by finishing in the top two at the qualifiers stage.
The Warm-up games will begin on September 24 where each team will play two matches, with India taking on England in Bengaluru on the same day, and three days later the Women in Blues will take on South Africa in Guwahati.
