The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has appointed Hina Munawar as the first female operation manager for the Men’s Cricket team two weeks ahead of the Champions Trophy 2025.
Hina who is a police officer with experience in security and operations, will be the first manager for the men’s cricket team.
Hina Munawar who has served in the Frontier Constabulary in the high-risk Swat area, will be handling the roles for Pakistan’s Tri-Nation series and ICC tournament which begins on February 19 in Karachi.
Meanwhile, senior retired bureaucrat Naveed Akram Cheema will continue as team manager. After passing the Civil Superior services team, Munawar transitioned into various law enforcement and security roles.
“Perhaps her appointment is aimed at streamlining operations within the team and between players and the board, as she has worked in strategic and leadership roles, helping to streamline various operations,” said an official of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
Hina Munawar who joined PCB last year was also appointed as the manager of the Pakistan women’s u19 team for the Asia Cup.
“She made history as the first female district officer in the Frontier Constabulary in Swat, breaking gender barriers in a traditionally male-dominated field.
It is understood that PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi has brought Munawar into the board on deputation as she remains part of the Police Service of Pakistan.
The PCB aims to streamline team management to create a more organised environment with her appointment bringing fresh perspectives to the traditionally coaching focused and male dominated setup.
Pakistan announce their Champions Trophy 2025 squad on January 31 where Fakhar Zaman has returned to the squad.
Coming to the tournament, Pakistan is place in Group A along with India, Bangladesh and New Zealand. As per Pakistan’s Champions Trophy schedule, their first match up will be against New Zealand on February 19 at National Stadium Karachi.
