Harshit Rana has been added to the Men in Blues squad for the upcoming five-match test series in India tour of England 2025, which begins this week.
Rana, who was part of the India A squad in the first unofficial test match against England Lions in Canterbury, was omitted from the 18-member squad for the main event.
Making his test debut in Australia last year, he has played two tests and has also played five ODIs and one T20I.
“The Men’s Selection Committee has added Harshit Rana to India’s squad for the first Test in Leeds against England,” BCCI stated in a release. “Rana, who was a part of the India A squad, has linked up with the team as India begin preparations for the first Test.”
The Indian Cricket team, including Harshit Rana, will be travelling from London to Leeds by train, arriving at Leeds station.

India’s squad have five specialist fast bowlers – Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna, Akash Deep, Arshdeep Singh and two bowling all-rounder – Nitish Kumar Reddy and Shardul Thakur.
Earlier, there were reports that Anshul Kamboj who picked a five-fer will be a probable addition to the senior squad, having impressed the selectors with his performance in the tour games. But in a last minute reversal, Harshit Rana was confirmed to be latest addition to the squad.
India are gearing up to being their new World Test Championship cycle under Shubman Gill’s leadership, which kickstarts a new era for India’s red-ball cricket. This will be India’s first series since the red-ball retirements of Ravichandran Ashwin, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli.
The first match of the series will be played between June 20 and 24 at Headingley Carnegie. The rest of the four matches will be played on Manchester, Lord’s Cricket Ground, Edgbaston, and The Oval.
