“He is Not Someone Who’s Going to Muscle You”, Harshal Patel On Virat Kohli

The search for Bumrah’s replacement becomes quite competitive as the reserve players of the Indian squad for the T20 World Cup 2022 are strong in various departments of bowling.

Harshal Patel On Virat Kohli

Harshal Patel – the name that repeatedly hits social media as the replacement player for Bumrah has become a consistent feature in the Indian T20I team post his consistent performances in IPL.

Harshal Patel is considered one of the possible replacement players for Bumrah particularly for his ability to bowl consistent slower delivery to destabilize the batters.

In an Interview, star Indian pacer Harshal Patel revealed various facets of bowling a slower delivery and how he would use it differently against Virat Kohli.

“To Virat, for sure, because he is not someone who’s going to muscle you. These slower deliveries are more effective when people are trying to muscle you. For someone like Virat, whenever I’ve played against him, he steps out and makes it a full toss and plays it through midwicket,” Harshal said.

“If he gets good bat on the ball, he is going to get a boundary between long-on and midwicket or he is going to get a double. And when someone plays that delivery like that, you have to adapt. But when someone is going deep in the crease and just trying to slog you over long-on or deep midwicket or down the ground, that’s where the slower ball becomes much more effective.”

Hashal made his IPL debut in 2012 and went on to play 78 matches so far and bagged 97 wickets at an economy of 8.40 which includes 2 four-wicket hauls and one fiver.

India will play their first match of the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 against Pakistan on October 23 in Melbourne.
