Harry Brook Smashes Century for Yorkshire

England batter Harry Brook smashed a rapid hundred for Yorkshire on Monday in his first competitive innings since December. Brook came into bat in the final day’s play of a rain-marred second Division County Championship match against Leicestershire at Headingley.

Brook who skipped the IPL 2024 scored his 12th FC century against Leicestershire. He helped the side reach 246 for 6 before rain spoiled and forced the game to be called off, with the match ending in a draw.

He smashed an unbeaten century off 69 balls, smashing 14 boundaries and two sixes. He and opening batter Adam Lyth’s centuries helped the side to post 246 runs.

Harry Brook has been back to cricket action since England’s tour of West Indies in 2023. He also pulled out of the test series on England’s tour of India in 2023.

Harry Brook was roped in by Delhi for INR 4 crore in the IPL 2024 mini-auction held in Dubai after being released by SRH after IPL 2023. Brook scored 190 runs in 11 innings, including a century.

The Delhi Capitals franchise has brought in Lizaad Williams as a replacement for Harry Brook in IPL 2024.

Lizaad Williams has 106 wickets from 83 T20s with a bowling average of 19.76. He made his debut for South Africa in April 2022 and has played two Tests, four ODIs, and 11 T20Is.

Harry Brook has amassed 1181 runs in 12 test matches he played at an average of 62.15 and a high score of 186. Brook has scored 407 runs while hitting three half-centuries. He also played 29 T20Is for England, scoring 544 runs at a strike rate of 144.68.

Coming to the tournament, Yorkshire has secured fifth position in the County Championship 2024 Division 02 points table. Yorkshire will be playing their next match against Gloucestershire on April 12 at Seat Unique Stadium.
