The Indian ace pacer Jasprit Bumrah has been awarded the Player of the Match despite the maiden double century from young opener Yashasvi Jaiswal during India’s win by a 106-run difference on the second test of England’s tour of India 2024.

The bowling unit led by Jasprit Bumrah on the second Test was impressive as they folded visitors for 253 and 292 runs. He had a nine-wicket haul in the second test played at Vishakhapatnam.

Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill smashed a century in the first and second innings of the Vizag test but did not get a chance to receive Player of the match. Bumrah achieved a rare feat and became India’s leading wicket-taker in England Tests.

Among Bumrah’s 9 dismissals, Ben Foakes and Ollie Pope’s dismissal has been the eye-catching moments on day 02. The special no-swing delivery to Ben Stokes became the stuff of legends and the yorker for Ollie Pope was simply astonishing.

On the occasion, Waqar Younis was astonished by Bumrah’s skill in bowling saying, “Can’t think of anyone. Bumrah’s Magic!” replied a fan when asked about the Bumrah’s Yorker.

Jasprit Bumrah reacted to the remark of Younis during the post-match conference.

“I don’t look at numbers. If you think about numbers there is a lot of pressure. I’m very happy that we won and contributed to that. As a youngster that [Yorker] was the first delivery I learned in tennis-ball cricket.”

Bumrah returned to action on August 2023 after recovering from his last injury.

“I used to feel that is the only way to take wickets. Had seen the legends of the game. Waqar, Wasim and even Zaheer Khan,” Bumrah said.

Rohit and I discuss everything, about what I am thinking and what he thinks we should do. I always enjoy watching fast bowling, whether it’s the other team or not.”

“If someone is doing well, good on them. Look at the situation, look at the wicket. I look to solve the problem; every wicket is different and I have to use what I have in my armory,” added Bumrah.

After leveling the series 1-1, India and England will be playing their third Test match starting on February 13 at Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium.
