Chinelle Henry picked the wicket of Dayalan Hemalatha for 2 runs during the WPL 2025 clash against Gujarat Giants which made the hosts score only 40 runs in powerplay.

Henry picked the wicket of Hemalatha in the last ball of the first over and claimed an early wicket.

Being put to bat first, Gujarat Giants’ Beth Mooney and Dayalan Hemalatha opened the innings while Chinelle Henry opened the bowling attack. However, losing a wicket early has put pressure on the hosts.

Harleen Deol who went on to join Beth Mooney in the run chase handled the chase and both were able to put 40 runs in the run board.

Warriorz and Giants are among the three teams in the ongoing edition who has only two wins so far. A better run rate has put Warriorz in the third position while Gujarat Giants in the last.

Speaking at the toss, UP Warriorz Women captain Deepti Sharma said, “We are going to bowl. Feel like there will be help for bowlers early on. Feels good and we got a good welcome.”

“It’s a different kind of motivation to play at home. We had a couple of net sessions and our preparation has been good. Two changes – Mcgrath and Saima out. Voll is playing,” said Deepti Sharma.

Meanwhile, Gujarat Giants Captain Ashleigh Gardner said, “Looks like a nice batting track tonight. Expecting a high-scoring game. You’ve got to be able to adapt quickly (to conditions).”

“Hopefully we can do that as a batting unit and put up a good score. Anything 170-plus is what we’re going to be striving for. No changes in the team.”
