The former India batter Gambhir got himself into trouble after showing his middle finger towards the crowd while leaving the field.

This had given wake to many anti-India slogans raised by some Pakistanis. He said, “What is shown on social media has no truth in it because people show whatever they want to show. The truth about the video that went viral is that if you raise anti-India slogans and speak about Kashmir then the person before you will obviously react and not smile and leave.”

“There were two Pakistanis there who were speaking anti-India things and things on Kashmir. So, it was my natural reaction. I can’t hear anything against my country. So, that was my reaction.” He concluded.

India played the 5th match of the Asia Cup 2023 against Nepal on September 4 at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium. Winning the toss, India chose to bowl first and Mohammad Shami opened the bowling attack.

Mohammad Siraj and Jadeja were impressive with their bowling as they scalped three wickets each, while other bowlers Shami, Hardik Pandya, and Thakur scalped one wicket each. Aasif Sheikh and Sompal Kami scored 58 and 48 runs respectively. By the end, Nepal scored 230 runs losing all 10 wickets in the 49th over.

The IND-PAK clash concluded with no result due to the rainfall and both teams were given one point. On winning the toss, India chose to bat where Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill opened for India while Shaheen Afridi opened the attack for Pakistan.

The Skipper Rohit Sharma failed to create an impression as he was sent out with 11 runs. With Virat Kohli sent out with 4 runs by Shaheen Afridi, India is down to 27/2. After Shreyas Iyer and Shubman Gill were sent out with 14 and 10 runs respectively.

The Indian team was struggling as they lost four wickets for 66 runs in the first ball of the 15th over. Ishan Kishan came to the rescue of the team where he scored 82 runs and with Hardik Pandya’s 87 runs India got back into competition. Ishan Kishan and Hardik Pandya had a partnership score of 138. After the fall of Ishan Kishan and Hardik Pandya, the other batters were dismissed with low figures.

Shaheen Afridi was impressive as he scalped 4 wickets in 10 overs for 35 runs, while Naseem Shah and Haris Rauf dismissed three batters each. By the 49th over India was all out scoring 266 runs.

If India wins the match against Nepal they will be qualified for the Super Four and will be facing their rivals Pakistan again in the Super Four round.

After completing the Asia Cup campaign, India will be playing a three-match ODI series against Australia and two warm-up matches against England and the Netherlands before heading for ICC men’s ODI World Cup 2023. India will be facing Australia on October 8 at MA Chidambaram Stadium.
