The Pakistan captain Fatima Sana will return home to Karachi on Thursday following the death of her father and will be missing Pakistan’s crucial game against Australia in Dubai.
Meanwhile, Muneeba Ali will stand in for Sana. Fatima Sana’s absence will be a major blow for Pakistan who needed at least one win in both games, to have a qualifying chance for the playoffs from Group A.
They are currently placed in third place of the Group A points table after India secured an 86-run victory against Sri Lanka. After the Australia game, Pakistan will play their final group-stage match against New Zealand in Dubai.
Being the young captain at the Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 at 22, Sana scored 30 runs and picked two crucial wickets including Chamari Athapaththu in their opening match.
During the match against India, Sana played a crucial innings picking the wickets of Jemimah Rodrigues and Richa Ghose briefly gave India and helped the side to maintain a run rate.
After replacing Nida Dar as captain, Sana has tried to bring a change in the Pakistan team’s mindset working towards success.
The match between Pakistan and Australia women will be played on October 11 at Dubai International Stadium.
