Ex-India cricketers Critics on Rohit Sharma

The former cricketers RP Singh and Akash Chopra slammed the Indian captain Rohit Sharma for under bowled Kuldeep Yadav on the fourth match of the home tour.

He was used less during two sessions of day 01 in the fourth test. He bowled only 12 overs out of which 4 overs were maiden. with spinners like Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja, he was less used during the first innings of the match.

Kuldeed bowled only 10 overs out of 90 on day 01 which is less than Mohammed Siraj. Although he did not pick wickets, he was very impressive with his lines.

Former India cricketers RP Singh and Aakash Chopra felt that Rohit Sharma underbowled Kuldeep.

RP Singh said, “The bowlers put in a lot of effort. Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, and both the fast bowlers put in a lot of effort. Siraj bowled better in his second spell than his first.”

“The only thing I doubt about is that you didn’t use Kuldeep Yadav as much as you should have,” told RP Singh.

“Jadeja and Ashwin were overbowled and Kuldeep couldn’t bowl that much because of that, and this happens as well. When you have three spinners, and all three are wicket-takers, one of the bowlers is under bowled many times and that happened with Kuldeep here,” Singh added.

On the other hand, Aakash Chopra said Rohit Sharma got confused because of the buffet of bowlers in from of him.

“It’s right, you are spoilt for choices when you have five bowlers. You get confused at times when you go to a buffet. Kuldeep Yadav was 100% introduced late. He could have been bowled a little earlier,” said Chopra.

Batting first, England struggled after losing 5 wickets for 112 runs before the lunch break of day 01. Akash Deep who made his test debut, dismissed England top order batters to create havoc in the batting line-up.

But soon the visitors got back into the competition after Joe Root smashed his 31st test century on day 01 of the fourth test. His century brought back England to score 302 runs losing 6 wickets by the end of the day 01.

He becomes the first-ever batter to score 10 test centuries against India. While resuming the match on day 02, England concluded their first innings after scoring 353 runs.

Ravindra Jadeja had a four-wicket haul while Akash Deep picked three wickets. Siraj bowled 18 overs to pick 2 wickets.

India started their first innings when Rohit Sharma was dismissed by James Anderson in the third over. India scored 34 runs losing one wicket before the lunch break in day 02 at JSCA Cricket Stadium Complex.
