The Texas Super Kings Captain Faf du Plessis and bowler Akeal Hosein’s impressive display during the MLC 2025 game against MI New York has helped the side to qualify for Playoffs.
du Plessis impressive knock and Akeal Hosein’s economical spell has powered three wicket victory at Dallas. By the victory they secured third position in the MLC 2025 points table.
Batting first, Smit Patel and de Plessis opened the innings, while Trend Boult opened the bowling attack. Despite Smit Patel’s dismissal for 3 runs by George Linde, Mukkamalla joined de Plessis to score 67 runs in the power play.
Linde went on to bag the wicket of Mukkamalla for 25 runs while Stoinis went back to dug out for 25 runs. Meanwhile Donovan Ferreira posted a quick fifty scoring 53 runs off 20 deliveries.
Meanwhile du Plessis went on to slam century and remained unbeaten with 103 runs off 53 deliveries. By the end of 20 over innings, Texas Super Kings scored 223 runs.

In the pursuit of chasing 224 run target, Quinton de Kock and Nicholas Pooran opened the innings while Zia-ul-Haq opened the bowling attack.
MI New York went on to lose two early wickets – Nicholas Pooran (8) and Monank Patel (6) within the powerplay.
With Tajinder Dhillon and de Kock at crease, MINY went on to score 44 runs in the powerplay.
After losing the wickets of de Kock, Tajinder, Pollard and Bracewell went on to forge a 88-run partnership with Pollard scoring 70 runs off 39 deliveries.
Bracewell got dismissed for 26 runs by Stoinis and the lower order collapse has costed the match for MI New York. By the end of 20 overs, MI New York scored only 184 runs and lost the game by 39 runs.
Akeal Hosein was named as the Player of the Match. Speaking at the post match conference, he said, “I think it’s the mindset (On how he prepared to bowl at a venu that could be tough for bowlers). I was up for the challenge, coming up against this team.”
“They have world-class players. I takes you to be at the peak of your game to beat these guys, To be honest I know those (Pollard and Pooran) guys,” he added.
“We are friends off the field and on the field we are quite serious. Thankfully I came out on the positive side today. I set my mind to bowl in the powerplay. I had a long night doing homework on these guys,” Hosein added.
“I prepared for situations. If you want to be best at this game, you want to be a student of the game be it women’s cricket, u19 cricket or men’s cricket.”
“Growing up the legend Dwayne Bravo once said as long as cricket is going on and you have the time to sit back and watch, you have something to learn,” he added.
“I have taken that from him. For me it’s about trying to learn and get better,” concluded Akeal Hosein.
