The 27-year-old all-rounder Ashleigh Gardner has a dream start in the WPL 2025 season as she impressed with the bat and continued to haunt opponents RCB picking the wickets of openers Smriti Mandhana and Wyatt Hodge in the same over.
Ash Gardner who came to bowl in the second over of the RCB’s innings troubled the visitors picking two wickets cheaply.
Earlier, Gujarat batted first and set a mammoth target of 202 runs for RCB with the help of impressive knocks from Beth Mooney and Ashleigh Gardner. The host got off to a steady start before Renuka Singh hit the stumps of Laura Wolvaardt (6) handing RCB their first wicket of WPL 2025.
Kanika Ahuja dismissed Dayalan Hemalatha for 4 after the powerplay tightened the grip on GG’s batting lineup. But Mooney’s 56 runs and Ashleigh Gardner’s 79 runs runs along with Deandra Dottin’ 25 launched counter attack to RCB’s bowling to post a big total.
Renuka Singh picked 2/25 runs in her four over quota while Kanika Ahuja, Georgia Wareham and Prema Rawat picked a wicket each but was not enough to restrict Gujarat Giants.
