The batter Dimuth Karunaratne is reportedly set to retire from Test cricket after getting to play his 100th test which will be the second test of the Australia tour of Sri Lanka 2025.
According to the sources, Karunaratne’s career has come to a twilight and nearing its conclusion but this hasn’t been confirmed by the batter. Karunaratne who made his test debut in 2012, will be stepping away from all formats of the game.
Over his test career, Dimuth has scored more than 7172 runs in the long format. He scored 16 centuries and 39 half centuries in his test career.
According to local newspaper, Dimuth Karunaratne has said that he will retire from all forms for cricket after playing his 100th test match of his career.
He also revealed that, he will leave Sri Lanka and shift to Australia with his family next month.

Karunaratne is going to play the last match of his cricket career in the Major Club Three-Day tournament. He will be playing in the clash between Sinhalese vs Nondescripts match to be held between 14-16 February in this tournament.
Earlier Dimuth Karunaratne said, “If a player plays only four Test matches in a year, it is difficult for him to maintain form and stay motivated.”
“After the start of the World Test Championship, we have got to play very few bilateral series in the last 2-3 years.”
“The reasons behind taking retirement are my current form, 100th Test and the end of the 2023-25 WTC season. I think this is the right time for retirement.”
Meanwhile, he has scored a total of 1,316 runs in 50 matches including a century and 11 fifties to his names in ODI format. He has a total of 8000 runs and 17 centuries in international cricket.
Australia has secured a win in the first match of the two match test series and the second match will be played between February 06 and 10 at Galle International Stadium.
