The first-class cricketer Dhawal Kulkarni is set to lead the Mumbai squad in the upcoming Buchi Babu tournament which returns after six years.

Dhawal Kulkarni is set to lead Mumbai in the Buchi Babu tournament, which will be held from August 15 to September 5 at four venues in Tamil Nadu.

Mumbai’s senior selection committee led by Raju Kulkarni had picked a 16-man squad for the tournament that involves four-day matches and will act as a warm-up match for the upcoming domestic season.

Around 12 teams will be participating in the tournament which is set to happen for the first time after Covid Pandemic.

The Opener Jay Bista captaining Uttarakhand in the 2021-2022 season will be returning to the Mumbai team, while youngster Angkrish Raghuvanshi top scorer for India under-19 team in the U-19 World Cup in West Indies 2022 has picked too.

The Buchi Babu Tournament organized by the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association, will be set to make its grand return after six years. The Buchi Babu tournament’s legacy within domestic cricket was a great one.

It will be having a traditionally set stage for the upcoming action. The previous edition of the tournament was held in 2017, and its absence in 2018 was attributed to the allocation of domestic fixtures to the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association.

The return of Buchi Babu will be greeted across the cricket community. Sarfaraz Khan’s inclusion in the 16-member squad has gained attention.

Even though he did not score even a half-century in Duleep Trophy and Deodhar Trophy, Sarfaraz Khan’s potential and experience have earned him a place in the squad.

The squad features the talents of seamer Tushar who has depth and variety to the team’s bowling attack. The Crucial decision to appoint Dhawal Kulkarni as the captain of the Mumbai team was reached after careful deliberation by the senior selection committee.

The committee had the meeting at the prestigious Sharad Pawar Cricket Academy where they discussed factors like players’ performances and leadership attributes.
