Ireland all-rounder Curtis Campher has made a world record by becoming the first male cricketer in professional cricket to take five wickets in five consecutive deliveries.
His remarkable feat occurred during the Munster Reds’ stunning victory over the North-West Warriors in the Inter-Provincial T20 Trophy at Pembroke Cricket Club in Sandymount, Dublin.
His spell has seen Warriors collapse from 87 for 5 to 88 all out in just 13.3 overs, in the pursuit of chasing a target of 189.
Curtis Campher returned with exceptional figures of 5/16 from just 2.3 overs to dismantle the Warriors.
His historic spell bega with the penultimate ball of the 12th over, when he dismissed Jared Wilson with a inswinger. He went on to trap Graham Hume on a lbw.
Returning to bowl 14th over, Campher went on to pick a hat-trick by dismissing Andy McBrine with the first ball.
He then dismissed Robbie Millar and Josh Wilson with a next two deliveries, sealing five wickets in five balls which is nearly an impossible feat in men’s cricket.

Reflecting on the moment, Curtis Campher said, “Because of the change of overs, I wasn’t really sure what was happening. I just kind of stuck to my guns and kept it really simple – and luckily, it sort of came off.”
However, the remarkable feat is not the first time accomplished. The distinction belongs to Zimbabwe Women’s All-rounder Kelis Ndhlove, who claimed five wickets in five balls for Zimbabwe U19 against Eagles Women in a domestic T20 matches in 2014.
Earlier in the match, Munster Reds posted a solid total of 188 for 7 in their 20 over innings. Campher’s record-breaking spell ensured the total was never seriously challenged.
Curtis Campher has been known for creating a magical moments in the field. He previously took four wickets for Ireland against Netherlands during the 2021 T20 World Cup joining a select group of bowlers to ahve done so at international level.
Making his debut for Ireland in 2020, Curtis Campher has played seven tests, 43 ODIs, and 61 T20Is and has been one of the most impactful cricketers.
