Indian cricket team who has been longing for an ICC trophy since 2013 have to pick a perfect deck of players for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 scheduled to be hosted by West Indies and USA.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India(BCCI) has also made various attempts to win an ICC trophy by changing captains, players, support staff and many other things. But none of them had an impact in favour of the Indian Cricket Team.
Even in the recently concluded ICC ODI World Cup 2023, India ended up as runner-up though the tournament was entirely held in India. After a crushing home defeat, BCCI was left baffled about the key reason for India’s continuous disappointment in ICC events.
Ahead of the event, BCCI is responsible for picking a perfect combination of players for the event and needs a strong pool of backup players. With a massive task on the shoulder, BCCI is set to pick the India squad for the 2024 T20 World Cup on April 27 or 28 –Â a report suggests.
But ahead of the official announcement many former cricketers and many cricket experts started to pick the probable players for the event based on the current form in IPL. But for sure, BCCI will not only look out for the IPL performers but also pick the players from their past performances.
A rumour widely spread across social media regarding the confirmed players for the T20 World Cup 2024. A total of 10 players were named on the list which includes Rohit, Virat and many others.
As per the report, the 10 confirmed players for the 2024 T20 World Cup India Squad are:
- Rohit Sharma
- Virat Kohli
- Rishabh Pant
- Suryakumar Yadav
- Jasprit Bumrah
- Ravindra Jadeja
- Arshdeep Singh
- Mohammed Siraj
- Kuldeep Yadav
- Hardik Pandya
The report also states that Hardik Pandya’s inclusion in the squad will be depended upon his performances his the ongoing Indian Premier League. Captaining Mumbai Indians, Hardik Pandya struggles to make an explosive performance either with bat or ball.
The list excludes the likes of Ishan Kishan, Shreyas Iyer, Shubman Gill, senior bowler Ravichandran Ashwin and many others. Though only 10 players of the squad have been revealed that too unofficially, the chances for these players to feature for India remain high.
India have won the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup back in 2007 under MS Dhoni. Since then India failed to lift the glorious trophy till date.
As far as the match is concerned, the tournament will begin on June 1 with the final match on June 29. A total of 55 matches will be played between 20 teams during the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024.
India was placed under Group A along with Pakistan, Ireland, Canada and the USA. As per the schedule, Men in Blue will play their first match of the event on June 5 against Ireland in New York.
