The pacer is widely seen as one of the best in the world, be it white-ball cricket or red-ball. However, India missed the services of Bumrah for a significant period of time in the ongoing Test against South Africa at Centurion.

Bumrah had limped off the ground after suffering a painful ankle injury on Tuesday. The pacer twisted his ankle in the 11th over of the South African innings and had no option but to leave the field.

BCCI provided an update on Bumrah’s injury through a Twitter post. “Jasprit Bumrah has suffered a right ankle sprain while bowling in the first innings. The medical team is monitoring him at the moment,” BCCI said in its post.

After being attended by the medical team, Bumrah returned to action after the end of the 60th over while Kagiso Rabada and Keshav Maharaj were on the crease.

Delighted to see Bumrah finally being able to bowl again, Kohli was heard saying in the stump mic: “Finally, the Rock has come back”.

Bumrah had marked his return on the field when South Africa was 144/7. Bumrah didn’t immediately start bowling as he had to spend some time on the field before being eligible to bowl again. He did manage to claim two wickets in the innings while bowling just 7.2 overs, bagging the wickets of Dean Elgar and Keshav Maharaj.

Earlier, India was bowled out for 327, after resuming on 272/3. The batting collapse was triggered by Lungi Ngidi (6/71) and Kagiso Rabada (3/72). South Africa ended their innings for 197 runs where Shami picks his fiver.
